NEWSLETTER – WINTER 2006

This year the Parish Council have been very busy as you will see from the following details.  If you would like to have your say about any of this information, do please pop into the Parish Office where you will receive a warm welcome.

 New Clerk:

After 7 years service Mrs Tracy Wall gave her resignation to the Parish Council.  Her achievements were huge and largely due to her determination and tremendous efforts, quality status was achieved.  Tracy will be sorely missed.  The role of clerk has been taken over by Mrs Jean Girling who you will find in the Parish Office on the days outlined below.

 Parish Office:

In August the new Parish Office was formed and is situated next to the library in Gartree Community School.  The opening hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 9.00 – 12.00 and Thursday 2.30 – 5.30.

 Annual Dinner:

The annual dinner in May was a huge success and a ‘sell out’.  The guest speaker was Julian Fellowes, Lord of the Manor of Tattershall and well known actor and director.

 Annual Accounts:

The annual accounts of the Parish Council for the Year Ended 31st March 2006 are complete, having been audited by Moore Stephens.

 Footpath Walking:

This year saw many members of the Parish Council together with members of the public, walking all three footpaths relevant to the parish of Tattershall and Tattershall Thorpe.  This is an annual event and a report is forwarded to the Footpath Officer to enable them to maintain the footpaths to a good standard.  Anyone is welcome to join in, setting off from the Market Place throughout the months of July/August, weather permitting.

 Flag Flying at Tattershall:

Flag flying for every occasion this year has helped to raise £100 for local charities, LIVES, being the latest recipient.

 Best Kept Village Competition:

Tattershall Thorpe had cause for great celebration as they won their class in this year’s Best Kept Village Competition.  A presentation took place at Swineshead Village Hall.

 Hers Scheme:

Railings have been installed around the War Memorial in the Market Place and they look very attractive.

 Annual Best Kept Garden Competition:

This year saw some wonderful displays for the annual competition, where the Rose Bowl Trophy is awarded to the winner of the ‘Standard Garden’ category and the ‘Barrack Trophy’ being awarded to the ‘Smaller/Container Garden’ category.  Certificates are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed gardens in each category.  The competition is open to everyone, so come on have a go!

 Parish Council Elections:

As you are no doubt aware Parish Council Elections will be held in May 2007 and nomination packs for anyone interested in standing will be held in the Parish Office and will also be available from the Elections Office, Tedder Hall, Manby Park, Louth from March 2007.

 Community Web Site:

The Community Web Site is now up and running.  It has become a ‘one stop shop’ for the parish with a specific area for the Parish Council.  If you are interested in applying for free space on the web site, please contact either Barracks Post Office.
