THE MANNING
TROPHY
The Principle:
The Manning
Trophy was presented to Sidney Manning for his 40 years service as a Parish
Councillor. The trophy was used for the gardening competition for a short
period and was then adopted as an award to be presented to the person/group
who had done the most for the village in the last year. Any individual or
organisation residing or operating within the boundary of Tattershall with
Thorpe Parish should be eligible for nomination for the award.
The Method:
Nominations are made anonymously
by members of the Parish Council.
If there is more than one nominee
the Public Lighting and Amenities Committee meets to consider all the nominees
and selects the winner by means of a secret ballot. In the event of a tie,
the Chairman of the Parish Council has the discretion to select the winner
from the short list.
At the April Parish Council
meeting the name of the winner is passed to the members, and then the
presentation of the Manning Trophy is made at the Parish Council Dinner.
