At the
Annual Parish Meeting in May it was brought to the attention of the council
that some of the footpaths within the parish were not clearly defined and
people were straying on to the adjacent landowner’s land. The issue of dog
fouling on footpaths was also raised, particularly on the footpath close to
The Blue Bell public house in Tattershall Thorpe. On behalf of members I
would like to enquire if it would be possible to erect ‘No Dog Fouling’
signs in pertinent spots.
Path
222 – Market Place to Bain bank
The river
bank section is regularly cut and looks very tidy and is a popular walk,
particularly now there is access to Dogdyke over the new footbridge.
However, the top of the bank does have deep rutting in places. The footpath
needs waymarking from the back of the church up to the river bank and along
the river bank. Once again there is a problem behind the bowling green as
the concrete path is being overtaken by the compost heap next to it and
there are also large quantities of overhanging nettles which need strimming
back, along with overgrown branches. There is also evidence of dog fouling
close to Bailey Bridge and the stanch. Adjacent to the new footbridge the
current sign depicting ‘No Public Right Of Way’ has been smashed and needs
replacing.
Path
225 – Market Place to Clinton Park, then Tattershall Thorpe to Masons Lane
to Butts Bridge
Market
Place to Clinton Park - The public continues to ignore the path route
through the bungalows and uses the field which is a more direct route, so
one wonders whether the field should become the true path. Along from the
bungalows, along the field side, the hedge is overgrown and hanging over the
footpath.
Tattershall Thorpe to Masons Lane – Several bushes alongside the sugar beet
field need trimming back. The waymarker above the railway line and the
street lights on Masons Lane are currently obscured by overhanging branches
which need cutting back.
Path
174 – Kirkby on Bain to Tattershall Thorpe, Blue
Bell
Pub to Lodge Road,
Tattershall
The path
was generally in good order. The only point raised was that the path
towards Kirkby needs to be cut more frequently as people tend to walk on the
track next to it, due to the width of the path and the vegetation. Also,
the wire fence between the path and the new hedge will need to be removed at
some point to enable the hedge to be cut. |
