The
Parish Council have organised a Best Kept Garden Competition since 1995,
following a member of the parish offering the Chairman of the Council a
trophy to be presented annually to the winning garden. A committee was
formed and the Rose Bowl Trophy began its journey.
In 2002
it was decided that another category would be added to the competition to
make it equal to all in the parish, being able to include the smaller
gardens on the RAF estates at Clinton Park and Castlefields. The two
categories were then ‘Standard Garden’ and ‘Container Garden’. In June and
July members of the Council look at front gardens throughout both
Tattershall and Tattershall Thorpe creating a shortlist of approximately 10
– 15 gardens and a judge is appointed to make the final decision, nominating
1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each category.
In 2006 Tattershall
Thorpe started it's own
Best Kept Garden Competition which was won by Anne and
Maurice Hanson
