 NEW FOOTBRIDGE OVER RIVER BAIN

After many years of campaigning, the footbridge across the River Bain has now been re-instated, once again giving walkers access to Dogdyke.  Until the early 1950’s quite a high, wooden footbridge linked the two communities, giving enjoyment to countless walkers.  Unfortunately the structure became unsafe and it had to be destroyed.

For a number of years Tattershall Parish Council regularly campaigned to get the footbridge re-instated and much to their delight in 2006 were allocated grant funding through the Lincolnshire County Council Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund to enable the work to proceed.

The footbridge was officially opened on Thursday 28th June 2007 by Mr John Porter MBE, witnessed by councillors and members of the public.

The footbridge was constructed on Tyneside and transported to Tattershall by road, with it eventually being craned into position.
