BEST KEPT VILLAGE COMPETITION 2006
And planting Winners Tree

Tattershall Thorpe parishioners were delighted to learn that they had won Class 1 of the competition for the Lincolnshire Best Kept Small Village, with 143 marks out of 150!  Wow, what an achievement!

The judges were very impressed with the communal effort, the absence of litter, the state of the hedges, verges and the bus shelter and chapel surrounds.

We managed a little publicity on the radio and look forward to receiving our presentation tree, which will be planted on Sunday, 29th October at 10.30am on the corner of North Road.  Do come along and make it a real celebration.

Special thanks are extended to the Chairman of the Parish Council, Mr. S. Coulber, for his enthusiastic leadership and to everyone who turned up with brooms, shovels, trailers, etc. to help.  Thank you so much.

Even though the competition is over, let’s keep up the good work to ensure that Tattershall Thorpe remains truly a best kept village!

We celebrated our success at the "Meet The Neighbours" event

BEST KEPT VILLAGE PRESENTATION

The 1st November was a major day in the Tattershall Thorpe calendar.  A coach was hired to take villagers to Swineshead Village Hall to officially be presented with certificates and a plaque in respect of our winning the Best Kept Village competition.  Twenty one residents made the trip to show their support.  Councillor Taffinder, Chairman of East Lindsey District Council, made the presentation.

The whole experience has had the effect of uniting the residents and their perception of how others see their village.

Tree Planting

On Sunday 29th October residents of Tattershall Thorpe gathered on North Road corner to celebrate winning Class 1 of the Best Kept Village Competition 2006.

In recognition of this wonderful achievement, a local garden centre donated a hawthorne tree.  Everyone lent a hand to plant the tree and a number of children enjoyed planting spring bulbs provided by the Chairman of the Parish Council.

What a delightful and happy event!
